Princesss Ellaria Martell, the Violet Viper, is the Princess of Dorne and Lady of Sunspear. She is the head of House Martell and the eldest child of Prince Olyvar Martell and Lady Cassella Dayne. She is their only daughter. She earned the nickname 'the Violet Viper' because she is the only one of her siblings with violet eyes. She is in possession of the steel spearhead that once belonged to Prince Oberyn Martell, 'the Red Viper'.

Appearance

Ellaria is ten and seven when she becomes the Princess of Dorne. She has long, thick and somewhat wavy brunette hair and instead of the typical dark Martell eyes, she has violet eyes she inherited from her mother. Her violet eyes have earned her the nickname ‘the Violet Viper’. She is very beautiful and sultry, not above using her looks and charms to her advantage.

History

Ellaria is the oldest child and only daughter of Prince Olyvar Martell and Lady Cassella Dayne. She has three younger brothers which include a set of twins, Daemon and Daeron. Her father also had his share of bastard children. Though her parents had many lovers of both sexes, they never flaunted him around their royal children.

Because Ellaria was born the oldest, her father began grooming her to rule at a young age. He made sure she maintained her ladylike ways but also had her trained with a spear. He taught her not to wear her emotions on her sleeve believing is could show signs of weakness, and to always be three steps ahead of everyone.

Ellaria spent her free time playing with the other children, some her bastard brothers and sisters, in the Water Gardens. She was always a social butterfly among the other children, a trait her father admired in her.

In her teens, she grew to become a beautiful woman, a trait her father taught her to use to her advantage. With her mother passing when she was at the tender age of six, she became the only Princess of Dorne and Lady of Sunspear. He father was very particular on the husband he has in mind for his only princess. Unfortunately, by the time of his death, she still had not been promised to any suitors. Elliara became Princess of Dorne at the age of ten and seven and unwed. She didn’t mind this much since she thought of marriage as more of a political move than anything else. She, like her parents, was known to have lovers discreetly, of both sexes.

Important Events

First Era: A Song Begins

At the beginning of the era, Ellaria becomes Princess of Dorne unexpectedly when her father dies mysteriously. Though she is stricken with grief with the news of her father’s death, she does not show it. Thankfully, her father had been grooming her to take over from a young age.

Ellaria travelled to King's Landing to attend a feast thrown by the King. There, Ellaria met Lysene business woman Elena Arazni and a woman named Nymeria Waters who turned out to be her bastard sister.
